Top 5 Christmas Songs for 2025 + a Sneak Peek of Something New

It's July. I'm fully aware that temperatures are pushing 100° where I am, and there is no chance a snow-person could survive in July. But. I've been seeing an uptick in interest in Christmas music. Now, if you are one of those people, you're in good company–I LOVE Christmas music, and I write it 12 months out of the year. And if you're not, I promise not to judge you. You do you.

For those of you on team #ChristmasInJuly, I wanted to share some of my favorites (in no significant order) today.

Born to Bring Us Joy is one of those songs I never get sick of. It is so much fun to teach and sing, and I've been told countless times how quickly children pick up on it. When I wrote it, it felt like an old friend–something that had existed forever, and I just pulled it out of the universe. We especially love the triumphant "Joy to the World" ending (thank you, Mr. Watts!) There are a couple of free teaching ideas on my website HERE if you're interested.

Sing for the King was co-written with one of my favorite humans in existence, Allie Gardner. Since Allie currently lives in South Dakota, and I most certainly do not, we wrote this song over a FaceTime call. I will never forget receiving the lines, "Sing, sing for the King of Kings! Sing, sing for the Prince of Peace!" when we prayed together at the beginning of that call. We love the fun imagery in the song and its upbeat feel. I can promise you'll be singing along with the chorus by the end of the song! Again, lots of teaching ideas HERE.

Our little town goes above and beyond to make the Christmas season special. When I was a young girl, my parents always made time to drive around the pond during the holidays to see the lights. Now that I have three kids of my own, my husband and I have continued this tradition. Light Up Our Life was inspired by these treasured memories, and we are so grateful to be able to share them with you. If you ever find yourself in our little Peace of Heaven in December, let's go grab some hot cocoa and visit one of my favorite places in the world. (Full disclosure, I would say this one is more appropriate for older children than little ones.)

I can't begin to tell you how much Monica and I love this little song! If I Were There invites you to look at the Christmas story from a child’s perspective and ask yourself what you would have done if you were there on that silent, holy night. From the humble manger to the garden tomb, to that glorious day when He returns to rule and reign, may we join in celebrating the life and love of our Redeemer. It is our prayer that this sweet song finds a special place in your holiday season this year and for years to come. Lots of teaching ideas HERE.

I've mentioned that some of these songs came together so quickly. When We Seek Him was NOT one of those songs. Making the lyrics and music perfect took countless iterations back and forth between me and Shawna Edwards, and there were a lot of moments I didn't think we would ever finish it. But the struggle was worth it. The moment the words "clicked" felt incredible, and I'm so proud of what we created together. When We Seek Him teaches us that "He will be with us wherever we are." I fully believe that Jesus is always extending His arms of grace and mercy to us, and all we have to do is reach out to be wrapped up in His love. We hope you love this one!

Did I say 5? So sorry, I have to add one more!!

Have you ever looked up at the sky on clear December nights and wondered if that Christmas star is still up there shining? I know I have!! I’m so grateful that the light of our Savior, Jesus Christ, is still guiding my way inside my heart, and I love being able to share that light with others by loving and serving as He did. May we remember to “shine His light so all the world can see Him.”

I wrote and released Shine nearly 3 years ago, but it wasn't until this past Christmas season that it started becoming popular. Something interesting about this song is that only 1/5 of the views have come from my home country (the United States). The rest are spread out across the world, with India, the Philippines, Canada, the UK, and Indonesia rounding out the top 6 of 50+. I'm so grateful people have finally found this adorable song!

Sneak Peek!!

COMING SOON!!!!! Witness of Christmas

Almost a year ago, I was invited to co-write a Christmas song with Monica Scott and Carrie Yost. I know you are going to LOVE this one! We will have sheet music and tracks ready to go by the beginning of October. The music video will officially release on October 11th.

For now, all I can share with you is the lyrics.

Witness of Christmas

I think of that night in Bethlehem

When one tiny babe was born

Remembering all who welcomed Him

The child who would change the world

I was not able

To kneel in the stable

But I can still find Him today

I’ll shine like a star

Leading all to His light

And show up like shepherds

Who ran to His side

I’ll sing with the angels

And seek like the wise

I’ll witness of Christmas and Christ

The angels sang out that holy night

Inviting the shepherds, “come”

And one shining star shared heaven’s light

To point to God’s promised Son

I was not able

To kneel in the stable

But I can show others the way

I’ll shine like a star

Leading all to His light

And show up like shepherds

Who ran to His side

I’ll sing with the angels

And seek like the wise

I’ll witness of Christmas and Christ

Come, let us adore Him

Come, let us adore Him

Come, let us adore Him

Christ the Lord

Come, let us adore Him

Come, let us adore Him

Come, let us adore Him

Christ the Lord

I’ll shine like a star

Leading all to His light

And show up like shepherds

Who ran to His side

I’ll sing with the angels

And seek like the wise

I’ll witness of Christmas and Christ

I’ll witness of Christmas and Christ
