The Scripture that Inspired "I Believe in Jesus"

I am so happy to finally share this BEAUTIFUL new song: “I Believe in Jesus.” It is a powerful declaration of faith, perfect for the Easter season or any season. I penned the words and wrote the music with my incredible friend, Katie D. Higley.
I have a lot to say about this one, so fill up your water bottle of choice (I'm team Owala) and grab a snack. 😉
When I was a child, I would hear people bear testimony and use phrases like:
“I know with every fiber of my being.”
“I know without a shadow of a doubt.”
“I know as if it were right there in front of me.”
I didn’t always understand those words, but they sometimes left me wondering whether my faith was big enough, strong enough — or simply enough enough.
Even now, far from childhood, there are times when those “shadows of doubt” make an uninvited home inside my heart. On those darker days, I cling to the things I’ve learned to be true and rely on faith, hope, and trust to carry me toward brighter ones ahead.
It might be my mathematical brain that tends to view the world in absolutes, but "knowing” has often felt like it requires physical proof — something you can see or touch.
But faith isn’t concrete. It can’t be proven like a theorem or measured in size, density, or weight.
Maybe that’s why, when I read the story of Thomas finally meeting the resurrected Redeemer in John 20:29, I love the Savior’s choice of words:
“Because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.”
I love that Jesus didn’t say, “Blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have known.”
Instead, He said, “believed.”
My favorite line from this beautiful new song is in the chorus:
“Until I see His hands and feet, I will trust His love for me.”
Here are some more of the lyrics:
I didn’t walk with Jesus upon the stormy sea
Or watch the waves be still when He spoke words of peace
I didn’t help Him share the fish and loaves of bread
Or see Him heal the sick and raise people from the dead
But even though I have not seen
I can still believe
I didn’t hold His hand beside the olive tree
Or cry beneath the cross that day at Calvary
I didn’t see an angel by His empty grave
Or kneel before the Savior and hear Him say my name
But even though I have not seen
I can still believe
I have absolutely witnessed the power of God in my life, and I cannot deny it. I cannot deny Him. I’ve had prayers answered in miraculous ways. I’ve heard the Spirit speak to my mind and felt the peace only He can bring deep within my soul.
I will always long for the day when I will kneel at His feet, feel the nail prints in His hands, and be wrapped in the warmest hug against the scar on His side.
And until then, I treasure the love I feel in my heart and bear this simple and sacred testimony:
I believe in Jesus.
God bless,
Angie
