Some projects have long stories and winding journeys.
This is one of them. But here’s the short version:
I wrote Anytime, Anywhere in 2019 and submitted it for publication. With just two short verses and no chorus, it was the simplest—and shortest—song I had ever written.
I wrote it for my little ones, who were just 2, 4, and 6 at the time. Prayer has always been one of the core pieces of my testimony, and I wanted something they could understand, even at such a young age.
I loved the song, but because it was so short, I never published it myself. Algorithms don’t exactly cater to one-minute songs (and that’s with the intro!). So, it sat quietly in the background of my life.
Until four years later—when I got an email asking for permission to publish it.
Seeing Anytime, Anywhere in an official publication was an incredible feeling. I was flooded with gratitude that something so small could reach millions.
To commemorate the song, my family and I decided to do something special. I don’t journal. I don’t scrapbook. And even posting here feels like pulling teeth sometimes. But I do love sharing music through recordings and videos.
So, the song began to grow. First a chorus. Then a bridge.
Daniel Blomberg created a magical track. My angel producer, Becky Willard, helped us record. And then—we hauled a piano out into a field to film the video.
The rain came. Our prayers for clear skies went unanswered. (That’s a story for another day.)
So, we rescheduled. We hauled the piano back into the field again. This time, the sun shone, the children sang their hearts out, the meadow echoed with music–even the cows joined in with their mooing. It was unforgettable.
Now, here it is—the extended version of a most-beloved song, originally written for my babies, now sung by those same babies who are 8, 10, and 12 years old. I dread the day when my oldest son’s voice will change, and those angelic high notes will be gone. Time is such a thief. I'm so happy we were able to capture it again in this song.
The full version you hear in the video
An easier version with the melody in the piano
A simplified, melody-supported version
A choral SAB arrangement by my dear friend, Chemain Evans
String parts that fit with any of the versions above
I can’t wait for you to hear it—and I’d love to hear your thoughts, too.
God bless,
Angie
