Reverence is Love - melody map (with options for older and younger children)

This free download is for a melody map for "Reverence is Love" and includes:

Melody map (I print mine "poster sized" 2x2 or 188%)

Pictures for younger children (collected from the church's website)

Instructions For Younger Children:

-Put the map on the board in order.

-Ask the children what they see on the board.

-Point to each shape on the map as you sing the song one time.

-Ask the older children to see if they can figure out what the different shapes mean as you continue to sing (smiley face=oneself, square=Heavenly Father/Jesus, heart=Reverence/Reverent).
-Have the children attach pictures of times when we can show reverence onto the map as you sing 3 more times, pausing in between each verse to collect answers from the older children in the room.

*Extender activity: show the children the ASL sign for reverence.  Ask them to do the sign with you when they hear the words "reverence" and "reverent" as you sing the song a final time.

Instructions For Older Children:

-Put the map on the board out of order.

-Ask the children what they see on the board.  What is the same?  What is different?

-Tell the children there is something wrong with this map and to try to figure out what is wrong as you sing the song.  If they can't figure out that it is out of order, guide them toward that answer.

-Ask the children to try to figure out the correct order as you sing the song again and again and again.

-When they have the correct order, ask them to figure out what the hearts, squares, smiley faces, and orange dots mean.

-Check their work by singing the song a final time.
