Born to Bring Us Joy - final chorus melody map

Born to Bring Us Joy - final chorus melody map

This is a melody map for Born to Bring Us Joy's final chorus (through the ending).  I like to print my maps "poster size" so each individual page takes up 4 sheets of paper (2x2).

**Note: if you are using the "shortened" final chorus (without the repeat), omit the 2nd and 3rd pages of the melody map.  If you want to use this map for the first two choruses, only use pages 1 and 4.

How to use this map (younger children):

- Start with the pages attached to the board in order.  Ask the children, what do you see?  what is the same?  what is different?  Collect answers and offer praise.  There are no wrong answers here.  Point out (if they didn't notice already) that there are different images repeated throughout each page, some pictures are higher or lower, there are lines that connect the shapes, etc.

- Tell the children the map has something to do with the song you are learning.  Challenge them to figure it out as you sing through the final chorus through the end.  Ask them what they learned, collect answers, and offer praise.

- Challenge the children to figure out what each icon stands for as you sing again.  Sing, collect answers, and offer praise.  Repeat if necessary.

*Bonus: assign an action to use for "JOY," "WORLD," "Jesus/Savior," and "Letter B Words" and ask the children to do the action for each of those words.

How to use this map (older children):

- Start with the pages attached to the board OUT OF order.

If they haven't figured it out, tell them the pages are not in the correct order, and you need their help to fix it.

- Let the children help you put the pages in the correct order as you sing again.  Sing it one more time to check your work.

*Bonus: Instead of singing "JOY," "WORLD," "Jesus/Savior," and "Letter B Words" out loud, do the action and sing those words in your head (continue to sing the "green dot" words out loud.)
